Participatory Projects

The Word Wise Web participatory projects utilise a number of different art forms and approaches to explore and express the way in which words, in their many and varied forms, can have a positive therapeutic effect by creating a timeless environment in which we can experience and share the numerous and complex facets of being human. When thoughts and feelings are committed to form in the written word, a permanent and lasting expression of what is felt in the heart and soul of an individual in a given moment is created. Whether it be poetry, fiction or the lyrics of a song, we all have an innate awareness of the power of words even though much of the time we may not consciously think about it.

The project aims to engage particularly with people experiencing challenges in their lives such as long-term illness, mental health problems and bereavement. Through the making of web structures that incorporate extracts of writing, project participants will create a visual installations expressing their own relationship with words that resonate with their experiences.
